Yes Tim, Kieran, Rachael, Heather, Kristy, Skye (1st Keilor Village), Cameron and the Intrepid Leader were all up at some ridiculous hour of the morning to help out at Melbourne's ANZAC Day parade. Actually, Tim and Kieran didn't get up early - they just didn't go to bed!!
For those of you who do know what ANZAC Day is, its when Australians the world over remember those who served their Country during the wars. In particular, we remember those who fell during the landing at Gallipoli in Turkey in one of the darkest days in Australia's war time history. Thousands of lives were lost in just one spot on one day of the war.
Our jobs on this day of remembrance were to direct the veteran's parking near the Shrine of Remembrance and to assist in the banner carrying for those who marched. Carrying the banners wasn't that hard, directing cars at 4.30am was a different story.
Thanks go to Bob Cater, our Scout Leader, for giving us the opportunity to show 1st Deer Park Venturers as not a bad bunch of people after all.
