Our Night At Ballarat Go-Karts

OK, so every Melbourne Venturer Unit goes to the go-karts, but do they travel all the way to Ballarat to do it??? By way of an explanation, it was during the Formula One Grand Prix and all our usual tracks were booked out. A rather extensive ring around found the Ballarat Indoor Go-Kart Racing track and what a find it was. The track really came to the party with a 15 lap qualifying session and then griding up for a 15 lap race - all for just $17.50!!!

So the night saw Emily, Konrad, Nathan, Brad, Jacob, Ashleigh and the Intrepid Leader pile into our newly acquired 'POO Mobile' for the trip up the Western Highway. You'll have to ask any Unit member why the Poo Mobile, but I need to publicly thank Cliff Palmer and the staff at Warringa Park School in Hoppers Crossing for the loan of their 12 seater bus. The Unit would have been lost without it on this night and it's come in handy since.

As for the racing, well what can I say ......first off the all important qualifying:

The Intrepid Leader - Woo Hoo !!!!!

The Unit beside our latest transport offering 'The Poo Mobile'. 12 seats, air conditioned, CD player. What more could a Venturer Unit want?

Our weapons of destruction. One cylinder and 6.5 horsepower. What more could a Venturer want?

Emily, Konrad, Nathan and Jacob waiting patiently(?) at the gate.

Emily strapping herself in. The number on her kart wasn't indicative of anything :-)

That's Jacob in the white hat. He's driven karts before (you ask him). His first question was "Which One Is The Brake?"

Afterwards, what does every good race car driver do? They have a drink of course.

I know the photo's dark, but this is the start finish line of the track.

Is this an idea for a Venturer activity or what???

Ooo, what's this. Why it's the trophy the Intrepid Leader won when he beat EVERYONE during the go-kart challenge.

Can you think of a better reason why the Unit shouldn't go back to this place, I can't :-)
